How To Shop For What You Love On A Budget

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

Many of us love to shop for new clothes or must for a new job and want to look professional. However, we may not always have the means to buy the clothes we think we want instead of the clothes we need. We live in a society that believes having name brand clothes is "it," when reality that is not true. There is nothing wrong with name brand clothing however, just because its name brand that doesn't mean it looks good or always worth the money. Good quality clothes are what you're looking for and it is possible to buy good quality clothing on a budget.

Shop Through Your Closet First

Before you go out and start shopping and spending money on clothes you might not need, I'd suggest you shop through your own closet first. Look through your closet carefully don't write anything off so fast. You might have quality outfits in your wardrobe that you haven't realized before. Lay the items out on your bed and see which garments look great together. You'll be surprised how many outfits you can come up with that you may never have thought of before even work appropriate outfits.

Buy What You Love Not What You Like

When you go out shopping be sure before you purchase something that you love it not just like it or because it's on sale (I'm sure we're all guilty of this bad habit). The last thing you want is to realize that you bought something and spent money on items you didn't love. What happens is that most of the time that specific piece or pieces will just sit in your wardrobe. If you were to continue this habit overtime, you'll end up with so many clothes you don't wear because you didn't love it in the first place. Only focus on what you would really love to wear.

Buy What You Need

When you're shopping on a budget focus on what you need instead of what you want. I know it's hard we all want what we can't have but that's just your mind making you think you need something when you don't need it at all. Focus on why you went shopping in the first place, if it's because you have a new job and you need more work approbate clothing then focus on buying work appropriate clothing. You can even buy clothes that are neutral when it comes to being able to dress these items up or down either for casual, work, day, or night. Keep in mind this just doesn't go for clothes but for shoes and accessories as well.

Quality Over Quantity

If you need an update in your wardrobe but you're on a budget focus on quality clothing over having a wardrobe full of clothing that isn't good quality just to have an abundance of choices. Don't worry about name brand clothing you don’t need name brand clothing focus on the longevity of a piece rather than where is the piece from. You want the clothes in your wardrobe to last you years and that can blend with any trend now especially if they're classic pieces. Classic pieces such as the little black dress, the wrap dress, nude heels, black heels, the red dress, pencil skirt, navy blue blazer and the trench coat to name a few. Focus on fabrics that last years and hold up well.

Shop Wisely

When you're out shopping do not buy everything all at once. There is no need to act like the world will end if you don't get everything in one big swoop. Prioritize what you need now over what you may want. Keep in mind a quality wardrobe doesn't happen overnight and over time your budget will allow you to buy items that require more money. However, just for now focus on what is important.

Stay feminine and beautiful.
