A New Year and A New Style

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

Welcome Back Everyone! It's a brand-new year and a new year gives people a chance to set new goals. Personally, I don't believe in resolutions because it seems like people have a hard time sticking to them, but I do believe in goals because it gives people more of an incentive to follow through and achieve more and strive in their personal and professional life. With that said, sometimes a new goal could be upgrading your style or changing your style depending on life changes or you just want to change things up a bit.

Every year a new trend comes out that becomes quite popular whether they look good or not. However, never rule out what already looks good and what is considered classic. Maybe you're starting a new job and you want to keep your current style, but your current style may not be appropriate for new role, so you want to upgrade but you don't know where to begin. As I mentioned in an earlier article you can find your style by pairing it with your personality.

You can always mix a business style with your personality no matter what your personality is just by mixing the right pieces together if it's appropriate for the office. You're probably getting older and want to dress more age appropriate you can always look at new trends and older trends that have become classics and decide which one suits you more. Never rule out what's considered an "old fashion method" by looking through store windows, catalogs, and fashion shows because that's where styles are displayed first.

One of the easiest ways to change your style up a bit without buying an entirely new wardrobe is to just add new items and mix them with items you've owned for years that are in good condition. For instance, if you've worn the same blouses repeatedly and you think you've worked them in many ways then buy a blazer or a jacket that can blend well with many pieces in your wardrobe without overspending more money than you're able to now. When you decide to go shopping for new items to upgrade your wardrobe or to change your style set a budget for yourself and analyze your wardrobe. After analyzing your wardrobe chose what you feel you need to change things up that can blend well with many clothing items you already own. That way can mix and match multiple outfits while using the same pieces. A helpful tip is to buy neutral color clothes or bold prints to mix with solid pieces the same with shoes.

Now if your goal this year is to take more of an interest in fashion don't buy anything you think you'll use just once unless it's a special occasion but that can be left for a different day. When you start shopping buy pieces that you'll know you'll get plenty of use of instead if it just hanging in your closet. Even if you are buying for a special occasion buy pieces that are versatile, and you'll be able to more than once either dressed up or down. Buy pieces you love not like but love. If you buy pieces, you don't love but just like because it's on sale then you have a bigger chance of not wearing these pieces. Therefore, the items will just sit in your wardrobe and after a while you'll complain you have nothing to wear. All that item did for you was become a waste of money. We've all been there it's all part of learning and growing. There's always room from growth even when it comes to fashion.

Try putting an importance on expanding your horizons and having an open mind about new styles that you would have never thought of before. You might have to make some tough decisions about your wardrobe. If you buy more clothes but can't really justify having an overflowing wardrobe with clothes you hardly wear or don't care for you should be tough and donate them to people who need them more and will love them more.

Remember style is for everyone and it's not a luxury. You can find plenty of great clothing for great quality for a great price label aren't everything. Stay tune for more tips on style.
