Do you ever just look in your closet and see all the beautiful garments in your possession after organizing your closet? Isn't it a satisfying feeling how everything look so well organized and all the beautiful clothes are in the order you want? There's a great feeling I get when I organize my closet and see every well in place, neat and organized it makes me feel great and thankful for what I have because I've worked hard for everything. When it comes to organizing your closet it's entirely up to you on how you want to organize it, but first things first make sure you have the proper hangers for your wardrobe. Velvet hangers or wooden hangers are the best way to go for your wardrobe because it helps to maintain the longevity of the piece while making your wardrobe look better. Let's leave the wire hangers for the dry cleaners and the plastic hangers for the retail stores. Now that we own the clothes and they're clean they deserve more love especially if you're going for quality over quantity.
If you really need to, look, and access your closet size and space maybe let that be the first thing you do in case you're thinking about buying storage bins and you need the space for them. To make your life easier keep your wardrobe seasonal to avoid clutter. When the fall season begins keep your wardrobe fall/winter and when spring begins keep it as spring/summer. That is an easy way to avoid clutter and keep your wardrobe well maintained.
Now, this may sound a little crazy and time consuming but if you really want to organize your wardrobe you might have to take everything out of your closet and do this the right way. Once you start organizing your wardrobe, you'll see clothes you haven't worn in a while, or you just feel it's time to part for them and someone else should have it provided they're in good condition. Once you've removed everything from the closet and I mean everything clean your closest dust, sweep, mop, or vacuum and get started. In order, for your closet to look really organized and well maintained you must let go and declutter your wardrobe and donate what you don't need or haven't used in over a year. That's not just clothes, it's also shoes and accessories including bags, hats, scarves, and jewelry.
If you have a drawer perhaps save that for the items that don't need to be hanged like certain blouses, under garments, pajamas, casual pants, skirts, and socks. That way you'll have more room for what you need to hang and more room to let your clothes breathe. Make sure you have separate piles for keep, donate, tailor (if your garments need tailoring) and possibly throw away. This kind of system will help you keep the organization process neater. Don't hold back when you're in the process of decluttering be strong and get rid of what you know deep down you need to get rid of and you'll feel much better.
Another tip is to keep it by color or by length. For instance, I love dresses I live in dresses and skirts especially during the spring and summer. To help me keep my closet look neater and more organized I keep it by length of sleeves. I start off with no sleeves, followed by shorter sleeves, quarter length sleeves and then long sleeves. I do a similar process with button down blouses and cardigans. I finish off with blazers and jackets or coats depending on the season. I've seen many people use a color system to help them. They put all the black garments together, grey together, white together and so on and so forth. Pick a system that you know will work better for you for some I like organizing by size and length and this system works for me. I also like to keep a separate section if you have enough room for active wear sweaters and special occasion dresses. Dresses I don't wear often but are the first dresses that come to mind when a special occasion pops up lie a fancy dinner or party dresses you wouldn't normally wear daily. You can repeat this process with shoes, purses, and jewelry with some changes of course.
This may sound kind of weird but there is pleasure, and it can be fun to organize your wardrobe. More importantly once you're done, you'll look at your brand new neat and organized wardrobe with a much more satisfying feeling than before. There's just something about neatness and organization that just gives us all a piece of mind knowing where everything is and knowing it's easily located. An organized wardrobe is a beautiful wardrobe.
