Now that fall is ending and winter is approaching, I would like to let you know which essentials for the current and upcoming season are important no matter what year it is or how much styles have changed. Some people are skeptical about fashion in the colder months because they feel that it's hard to combine their style with fashion and they find it boring. Of course, that's their opinion however I would like to add that I don't believe that to be true I believe no matter what season it is you can maintain whatever style you prefer if it goes with the weather.
A Good Coat
One of things I love about winter is the selection in coats. I believe to achieve a great winter style is to have a coat and it doesn't have to be expensive or name brand just great quality so you can have it for years. There's one coat I've had for over ten years and it's still in good condition. It was a gift from my grandmother I had it tailored because it was too long however I never see myself giving the coat away. It's camel colored, thick, heavy and ties around the waist. Not only is it warm but it's a classic staple piece and it suits any fashion trend of any year in my opinion. Depending on the style of the coat and the color it can be part of your outfit and what brings your whole outfit together. Most people during the winter tend to gravitate to a black coat but while it's also a classic I feel the need to experiment with bolder and brighter colors and I encourage others to do so too. For instance, take a bright purple coat over your outfit and with a pair of high heels that puts the outfit together and you'll strut down the street and feel confident. But don't take my word for it try it for yourself and it doesn't have to be a purple coat it can be any coat you wish. Red, plaid, houndstooth, floral coat, green coat or just let your imagination run wild. For inspiration you can go to J Crew, Venus, Unique Vintage and Modcloth just to name a few. You'll find some nice coats in these places and sites that you'll fall in love with and want immediately.
Beret
How can you go wrong with a beret? It's another classic piece that will go with any coat you choose to wear. Bring a little Parisian style to your wardrobe after all Paris is the fashion capital of the world. The great thing about the beret is once you take the coat off you can leave the beret on and keep it as your outfit and reign supreme in chicness. The beret is not only classic but if suits any fashion style you have. Something so simple can add flair and creativity to your outfit because berets have so popular that they come in different colors and styles now. The beret works with any outfit and any occasion with dresses, skirts, pants, and suits because it's so versatile it can even be worn with your hair in a side updo or down do like a braid.
A Turtleneck
I've mentioned in a previous article that the turtleneck is a classic staple that will most likely never go out of style. In my opinion the turtleneck is almost a must for any winter wardrobe especially as a woman because there are so many ways to style it and different accessories to add. Not only will the turtleneck keep you warm and fuzzy it will add style to the winter outfit. If you want to have fun with outfit play around with different colors, styles, prints pair with either a skater skirt, skinny jeans and over the knees boots and you're good to go.
Over the Knee Boots
Over the knee boots are a must in a winter wardrobe especially if you want to keep warm and still look chic. The thing about over the k1nee boots is that it can be worn with just about any outfit and still maintain the authenticity of the outfit without changing it too much. What I mean by that is if your outfit is a night out outfit whether you're wearing a dress or a blouse and pants depending on the style boots it still looks like a night out outfit without it looking like you're just going for comfort. Over the knee boots come in many different styles and colors and are a statement piece by itself. It will take any casual outfit and make it trendy instantly.
Thick Stockings
If you're anything like me, you're not really a pants kind of woman. I preferably prefer dresses and skirts even in the coldest and snowiest of days and because of that I find it imperative to own many thick stockings to keep my legs warm. Now if you do love wearing pants most of the time but would like to wear a dress or a skirt everyone occasionally, I will still recommend thick stockings. A pair of thick stockings, your favorite dress, over the knee boots and top it off with your coat and beret and you are good to go and walk down the streets holding your head up high in confidence. You might even want to add a pair of sunglasses because the sun is still very strong in the winter, and you'll look like you belong in fashion a magazine.
